The idea that Surabaya is a dirty port city full of pickpockets just isn’t true anymore. The people are friendlier and the city is generally cheaper than Jakarta. Tunjungan, Surabaya’s shopping center,often has better bargains than Singapore. And take a look at the new two-storey airconditioned superflash passenger terminal at Tanjung Perak, Surabaya’s port.
